And it’s adorable so I figured I’d share. Move along if you’re the kind of person that doesn’t like ooey-gooey romance, sunshine or cute puppies (you monster).
How He Proposed: Joel brought me out on to the balcony to enjoy the view and we sat down on the rocking chairs to soak it all up.

He handed me two small cards and said he had wanted me to read them. One first, then the other. I opened the first envelope to find 3 index sized cards with riddle-like phrases on them. Each card had a number on it that was significant. The riddle on one side hinted at the significance of the number, and the other side of the card gave you the answer. The numbers were things like 999 (how many days have passed since our first date) to 627 (the number of miles between where we live.) The second envelope contained one card that featured the number 1. He instructed me not to flip it over until he told me so. After I read the riddle, he got down on one knee and started saying sweet things. I (of course) was crying and he started tearing up :)

After he finished, he told me to turn the card over and I read “will you marry me” on the back of the card to which I responded “yes!” :) The rest is history ;)
